NO STRANGER to unearthing a star young trotter, record-breaking horseman Chris Lang appears to have another in his stable.
Lang has trained a host of quality types throughout the years including Sundons Gift, Skyvalley, Jauriol, Kyvalley Road, National Interest, Let Me Thru, Right Interest and Shes An Image.
Lang’s latest offering is Courage Stride, which made an impressive debut in Bendigo last night.
With Lang in the cart, the all-American bred colt led throughout on his way to a 34-and-a-half metre win from Im Bobby.
Millee was four-and-a-half metres away third.
Bred and owned by Emilio and Mary Rosati, Courage Stride rated 2:04.1 over 2150 metres.
“I’m pretty happy with the way he went,” Lang said. “He did everything right which is very pleasing.
“This is the first horse I have trained for the Rosatis, so it’s a nice way to start things off.”
Citing next week’s Kilmore meeting as the two-year-old’s immediate mission, Lang then plans to send the son of Muscle Hill for a spell.
“I’ll race him again next Thursday then send him to a paddock,” Lang said. “Just a short, learning preparation for him this time in.
“I’ll give him time to wind down before I get him up again for the better races later in the year.”
