Remarkable Saturday night dominance continues

LEADING New South Wales horseman Craig Cross continued his remarkable Saturday dominance last night.

During the past 10 weeks Cross has won a staggering 43 Saturday night races, including an incredible 36 at Club Menangle.

Cross has also won six at Albion Park and one at Tabcorp Park Melton.

The latter victory came via Culleburn last night, while closer to home he registered another quartet at Club Menangle.

Cross’ haul also includes quinellas, trifectas and even the first five across the finish.

In his home state alone Cross has won an astonishing 136 metropolitan events this season to sit at the top of the trainers’ premiership.

To highlight the magnitude of Cross’ feat, KerryAnn Morris is his closest rivals with 25 wins!

“The stable has had a pretty remarkable season,” Cross said. “It’s been terrific for our owners.

“It’s not all glitz and glamour though as a lot of hard work goes into the team every day, not just on race night.”

Cross’ latest ‘bag full’ at his home track was kick-started by Replaced Eye, which took advantage of the absence of his star stablemates.

Runner-up behind Cash N Flow and King Of Swing during his previous six starts, Replaced Eye broke the run of close calls by covering the mile in 1:50.6 to score from Golden Year and Maraetai.

“He’s a very nice horse in his own right,” Cross said. “He’s just that rung below the top ones.

“He can run 1:50s every time he goes around, it’s just that extra second or two the others can go that catches him out.”

Cross was then triumphant with Shortys Mate, Rockita and Wrangler.

“They all went well,” Cross said. “There is nothing special in mind for any of them and they’ll just go around in the next suitable race.”
