Unbeaten filly facing toughest test
UNBEATEN youngster Sporty Dancer will face her toughest test when she heads to Ballarat tonight.
Winner of her four starts, Sporty Dancer is set to tackle a Home Grown Classic heat for trainer Todd Prest.
With Amanda Turnbull to take the reins, the daughter of Sportswriter has drawn to settle forward from barrier four.
Despite her perfect record the New South Wales raider is midrange in betting at $11 with TAB Fixed Odds.
Recent debut winner Rogue Wave is the $1.22 favourite from gate two.
“She’s been going great,” Prest said. “You can’t ask for more from her than winning every start.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled with what she has done so far and just hope she can be competitive tonight.
“This is a big step up for her as she is coming up against some nice horses now, so this will be a good test for her.
“I will be happy to run in the top three and make her way into the Final.”
Due to travel restrictions Prest will be forced to watch Sporty Dancer on television as Avenel-based horseman Wayne Potter takes the two-year-old to the track.
“Because of Covid I had to send her to Wayne Potter last week,” Prest said. “She has settled in brilliantly, is eating up and is doing everything right, so she is going into this as well as possible.
“She’s also eligible for the Vicbred later in the year so hopefully I will be able to travel down for that.”
