REGISTERING his first win was “amazing” in itself, but for Lochie Cook his maiden triumph had an extra punch – or fist bump to be precise.

Driving Keayang Jackie to victory in Kilmore, Cook was submerged in a “surreal” feeling shortly after the post when champion reinsman Chris Alford congratulated him on his win.

Pleased for the 20-year-old, Alford leaned across from the sulky and gave Cook a celebratory fist bump much to the delight of the winner.

“It was amazing to get my first win and I won’t forget that feeling,” Cook said. “It felt surreal and took a little while to sink in.

“Then to get the fist bump from Chris was unbelievable.

“Chris is an idol of mine so for him to give me a fist bump was pretty special.”

Beginning quickly to lead from barrier six, Keayang Jackie was never seriously challenged as she cruised to a 21-and-a-half metre win from Saving Major Percy, with Smile Lyle five-and-a-half metres away third.

Rating 1:55.1 over 1690 metres, the Marg Lee-trained daughter of A Rocknroll Dance stretched her record to five wins and four placings from 12 starts.

“I work for Marg and they encouraged me to pursue a driving career,” Cook said. “They have been very supportive.

“I was pretty nervous, but also confident with her, but I was told to just go out there and have fun.

“I can’t thank Marg and everyone at the stable enough for how much they have done for me.”
