Serious leg injury won’t stop winning ways

A SERIOUS leg injury should have no affect on his winning chances at Club Menangle on Saturday!

Recently returning to the stable after a stint at the ‘vet’ due to a major setback in his troubled limb, he’s been passed fit to be at the track where he is favourite to win the Sterling Graphic Design Pace.

“I was in hospital last week because an infection settled into my broken leg,” premier trainer Craig Cross said.

“I’ve been on the drip, had it cleaned out and am back at the stable but am taking a tonne of antibiotics.

“They were going to operate on it last week but that has been put off for a few weeks now.”

As has been the case in recent months, Cross not only has the leading contender in the Group Three, he also has the weight of numbers.

Top pacer King Of Swing heads the field at $1.55 with TAB Fixed Odds.

Kept fresh since his second in the Victoria Cup four weeks ago, King Of Swing has drawn the outside of the front row.

The son of Rocknroll Hanover is one of eight Cross-trained runners in the field of 10.

King Of Swing’s stablemate Alta Orlando is considered the biggest threat at $3.40 from barrier 10.

“He had a few easy days after the Cup and is ready to go,” Cross said. “He’ll get a bit of competition from the likes of Alta Orlando, but he does have a bit on them.

“At this stage he will have a couple of starts at Menangle before we take him to Queensland for The Blacks Of Fake at Albion Park on December 12.”
