UNDEFEATED youngster Let Her Roll doesn’t have to look far to find the biggest threat to her perfect record.

Winner of her three starts, including the $50,000 Southern Stars Final at Globe Derby, Let Her Roll is engaged in Saturday night’s Sapling Stake in Melton.

Among the two-year-old’s rivals is her Clayton Tonkin-trained stablemate, Ill Be Gone, which was an impressive winner upon debut in Bendigo a fortnight ago.

With Mark Pitt in the cart, Ill Be Gone worked to the lead from barrier four before cruising to a 12-metre win in 2:00.5 over 2150 metres.

Pitt has yet to select which filly he will partner, with Ill Be Gone faring slightly better in barrier two and Let Her Roll to come from gate three.

Early markets have Let Her Roll as the $2.50 favourite, with Ill Be Gone at $2.80.

Pleased with the duo leading into the feature, Tonkin was unwilling to separate the pair.

“They are both nice fillies,” Tonkin said. “On the training track they both give their all and so far that’s what they have taken to the races.

“Let Her Roll has a little more experience having had a couple of more starts and travel, but Ill Be Gone hasn’t stopped improving either.

“Both are ready to win and it won’t be a surprise to see either of them come out on top.”
