Too early for comparison with famous mother

SHE’S got a long way to go before she can be compared to her famous mother, but exceptionally-bred youngster Peaceful is heading in the right direction.

Having her third start when making an appearance at Club Menangle yesterday, Peaceful created a huge impression with her arrogant victory.

Stretching her record to two wins and a second from three starts, the two-year-old covered the mile in 1:52.4 to score by 27-and-a-half metres from No Dramas.

Tukurua was 10-and-a-half metres away third.

Suitably impressed by Peaceful’s performance, trainer Cameron Ross believes the filly is capable of climbing to the top of her crop.

“I’ve got a very high opinion of her,” Ross said. “She has always shown plenty of ability and is starting to put it together nicely.

“She’s still got a lot to learn, but is improving all the time.

“I knew she was capable of running a time and winning like she did yesterday and I’ve got not doubt she is capable of going a long way.”

By top stallion Sweet Lou, Peaceful is from former star mare, Frith.

A winner of eight Group Ones, Frith was retired with an outstanding record of 39 wins and 14 placings from 63 starts for earnings of $1,180,345, making her the fourth richest mare in Australasia.

Frith’s top shelf triumphs include the Breeders’ Challenge, a series Peaceful will be aimed towards.

“I will put her on ice for a week now then start getting her ready for the Breeders’ Challenge,” Ross said.

“Whether she can reach the heights of Frith remains to be seen, but she has definitely inherited a good portion of her dam’s ability.”
