Undefeated youngster to make Victorian debut

ALTHOUGH Vicbred and trained in Victoria, undefeated youngster Enjoy Life is finally ready to make his Victorian debut tomorrow night.

Bred and owned by Peter Gleeson, and prepared by premier horsewoman Emma Stewart, Enjoy Life has had five starts – all in Tasmania!

Making his debut on January 11, the well-bred son of Always B Miki scored again a fortnight later before being transferred to the Bill Dornauf stable.

Sent for a spell following his success in Launceston on March 22, Enjoy Life was placed back in Stewart’s care soon after.

As such the three-year-old is poised to make his racing return at Entertainment Park Melton, where he will compete against older rivals over 1720 metres.

“He’s still got a lot to learn, but we quite like him,” Stewart said. “He’s won each of his starts quite well and that preparation served as a good starting point.

“The break also did him the world of good and his work has been strong, so we expect a forward showing from him.

“We trained his dam Perfect Life, which was a handy mare, but he has the potential to go further than her.”

To be driven by Mark Pitt, Enjoy Life faces a daunting challenge after drawing the outside of the second row.

Despite the early obstacle, betting markets have the colt listed as the $2.90 favourite, with Hitch To His Star considered the biggest threat at $6.50.

Boasting two wins and a pair of placings from his last five outings for trainer Craig Turnbull, Hitch To His Star will begin from gate nine.

“The draw certainly makes it all-the-more difficult,” Stewart said. “He’s stepping up in grade and first-up from a spell as well.

“That said, he’s been doing everything right on the training track and is ready to go.”
