WA trip on the cards for Group One winner

Revealing his plans following Lux Aeterna’s success at Club Menangle last night, trainer Rickie Alchin stated there is a distinct possibility the daughter of Captaintreacherous will be taken to Western Australia in November.

Alchin has circled the $100,000 Norms Daughter and $150,000 Mares’ Classics at Gloucester Park as viable options.

In a positive omen, Lux Aeterna won the Norms Daughter Stake at Club Menangle on August 15.

“The two mares’ races in WA are pretty attractive options,” Alchin said. “The good prizemoney against her own sex is something to give some serious thought about.

“She has achieved so much already, but the thing we would like her to reach is $1million in earnings and races like that provide a good chance of it happening.

“She’s closing in on $800,000, and earning another $200,000 is still a big task, but races with stakes like that help.

“There’s still time and various things to consider before we set any concrete plans.”

While the interstate expedition is yet to be confirmed, there was no doubt about Lux Aeterna’s class during her latest outing.

With Alchin holding the reins, the five-year-old began quickly to find the pegs from barrier six to gain the run of the race behind Bella Danza, which led from gate seven.

Angled to the outside at the top of the home straight, Lux Aeterna sprinted to a four-metre win from the pacemaker, with Alfnalma a metre-and-a-half away third.

Covering the mile in a career-best 1:49.8, Lux Aeterna took her record to 24 wins and 12 placings from 57 starts.
