Well deserved win almost goes unnoticed

A WELL deserved victory has almost gone unnoticed.

Competing in Junee on Tuesday night, Complicated broke her maiden status for trainer Len Clement.

While a pacer registering its initial win is nothing unusual, Complicated was having her 49th start since making her debut in August 2019.

During that period the daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven has changed stables numerous times, with Clement her fourth trainer.

“I got her at the start of last year and she’s always been honest,” Clement said. “I can’t ask for much more from her.

“I’ve given her about 25 starts and she has picked up about $17,000 in stakes.

“We are very rapt she has finally won a race and even more rapt for the driver because he was the one who helped get her going when we first got her.

“You couldn’t steer her when we got her and he got her going straight.”

The driver is renowned reinsman Bruce Harpley who took Complicated to the lead from barrier four before easing the mare to take a trail behind Banjo Safari.

Regaining the front in the shadows of the post, Complicated scored by a neck from the pacemaker, with Jumbo Jim a neck away third.

Paying $61 on the Tote, Complicated rated 2:03.5 over 1760 metres.

“Every week when she gets a half descent draw we’re confident she can go well, and if a win happens, it happens,” Clement said.

“I also had No Rushing in the race and he did well to be fifth when first-up for two years.

“Complicated will go around in Junee again next week, and if we draw alright we’ll be around them again.”
