Winning streaks to continue

STABLEMATES Honolua Bay and Von Art are expected to have little trouble continuing their winning streaks at Tabcorp Park Melton tonight.

Both are undefeated since being transferred to premier horsewoman Emma Stewart.

Honolua Bay has won his six starts in impressive fashion, including the Group One Vicbred Super Series Final and a pair of Group Twos.

A revelation since joining Stewart’s all-conquering team, Von Art is aiming for her ninth consecutive victory.

“They have both been faultless since they got here,” Stewart said. “Whether it’s at the race or on the training track neither has set a hoof wrong.

“We all know winning streaks come to an end, but I can’t see that happening tonight for either of them.”

With Mark Pitt to take the reins, Honolua Bay will begin from barrier seven in the Westburn Grant Free-For-All.

Despite being the widest drawn runner in the field, the son of Somebeachsomewhere is a prohibitive $1.25 favourite with TAB Fixed Odds.

Tango Tara is considered the main threat at $6 from gate three.

“I’m not fussed about the draw,” Stewart said. “It’d be nice if he was closer to the pegs, but it’s a small field, so no matter where he settles he won’t be far off the pace.”

Also to be driven by Pitt, Von Art will begin from the same draw as her stablemate.

Like Honolua Bay, Von Art is at the front of the market at $2, with Relentless Me regarded as the biggest danger at $2.40 from the pole.

“There is a bit of form in the race and it will be a good test for her,” Stewart said. “I’ve got no doubt she is up to the task!”
