Aiming for another training masterpiece

IT WON’T quite be the miracle he manifested last week, but prominent horseman Andy Gath is aiming for another training masterpiece at Tabcorp Park Melton.

Last Friday Gath stunned industry participants and punters alike when he produced Tornado Valley to win a Great Southern Star heat and Final when first-up from a four-month break.

After leading throughout in his qualifier, Tornado Valley then trailed the front runner before capturing the $300,000 Final two hours later.

What makes the feat even more remarkable is Tornado Valley’s won his heat in track record time!

Fast forward to Saturday night and Gath will again chase Group One glory with a trotter which has had an interrupted preparation.

Originally being set for the Great Southern Star, Majestuoso missed the Grand Circuit event due to a minor injury.

Majestuoso clipped his leg during the V L Dullard Cup on January 30 which caused a slight cut and resulted in the son of Majestic Son missing work and the Great Southern Star!

To be driven by Gath’s wife, Kate, Majestuoso is engaged in The Knight Pistol where he has drawn barrier six.

“He got on himself in the Dullard Cup,” Gath said. “It wasn’t anything major, but enough for him to missed work and the Great Southern Star.

“He’s fine now and ready to go.”

The Gaths are hoping for a huge weekend, with Havehorsewilltravel to compete in Friday night’s Ararat Trotters’ Cup and Pacifico making the trek to Club Menangle for the Group Two Paleface Adios Sprint the following evening.

Havehorsewilltravel is unbeaten from six starts since joining Gath’s stable.

“At this stage he hasn’t won in particularly impressive fashion, but he keeps getting the job done,” Gath said.

“I’m not saying he could be another Tornado Valley, but that’s the way Tornado Valley started out when he got here so we can only wait and see how far he goes!”
