Food for thought ahead of APG Sale

IF YOU’RE heading to tomorrow’s Australian Pacing Gold Sale in Melbourne and have yet to decide on a Lot to buy, here is some food for thought.

Tonight’s stellar programs at Club Menangle and Tabcorp Park Melton will host three Group Ones and a pair of Group Twos.

Among the contenders in the main events are a host of APG Sales graduates by various sires.

Mach Three leads the way with three of his APG progeny set to compete against some of the best pacers in the nation.

Sadly Mach Three isn’t represented as a sire in the pending sale, but he is the grandsire of top stallions Captaintreacherous, Huntsville, Sunshine Beach and Downbytheseaside which between them have 18 Lots ready to enter the ring.

Those four follow the line of Mach Three’s son Somebeachsomewhere, which has Crunch Time in the Menangle-based Group Two.

Last season Crunch Time became the equal-fastest Australian-bred three-year-old with his 1:49.6 win around Menangle’s world class 1400-metre circuit.

Like his ill-fated father, the late Somebeachsomewhere has no progeny in the sale.

Mach Three is also represented as a broodmare sire as is his former stud mate Art Major.

Fresh from another premiership winning season, Art Major is the sire of tonight’s A G Hunter Cup runner and APG purchase, Malcolms Rhythm.

Along with his role as broodmare sire, Art Major has fathered seven Lots in the sale.

Another which finished last season with premierships to his name, Bettors Delight has eight ‘kids’ in the sale.

Bettors Delight’s daughter Delightful Jazz will be in action later tonight when she contests the Ladyship Cup in Melton.

Sticking with the Melton majors, Expensive Ego has made the trip from Sydney to chase glory in the Four-Year-Old Bonanza.

Winner of the Group One APG Brisbane Final in 2019, Expensive Ego is by Rock N Roll Heaven which has 10 Lots ready to go under the hammer.

Rounding out tonight’s APG graduates chasing a feature triumph is Jay Ok, which is engaged in the Hondo Grattan Stake in Menangle.

Jay Ok’s sire A Rocknroll Dance has seven Lots in the sale.
