Aiming to maintain unblemished record

TRIUMPHANT upon debut several weeks ago, Buildthemanastatue will aim to keep his record unblemished when he returns to Globe Derby tonight.

Prepared by astute horseman Kevin Von Duve, Buildthemanastatue captured a Kindergarten Stake heat at the same venue on March 23.

Kept “ticking along nicely” during the interim, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase is engaged in another heat.

“I was very happy with his first run, which didn’t surprise me as I knew he could go,” Von Duve said. “But he’d only seen the mobile once before, so I had to wait and see how he went at the races.

“He did hang a fair bit, so I’ve changed some gear a little for tonight.

“He’s pretty fit and strong, it’s more about him learning how to keep it altogether around the corners.”

To be driven by Michael Smith, Buildthemanastatue is the widest drawn of five runners over 1800 metres.

Also successful at her only start, Spirit Of Kezza will begin from barrier four with Wayne Hill in the cart.

“Emma’s filly went very nicely the other week and any horse from her stable is hard to beat,” Von Duve said. “Toby Ryan’s (Angrypants Angie) was eye-catching and should be better for its first start.”
