SYDNEY-BASED trainer Jarrod Alchin will have two stable runners in two finals as part of Sunday’s Tamworth Harness Racing Club January racing Carnival Finals night.

Alchin will have My Ultimate Star in the $30,000 Multiquip Golden Guitar Final after the Bettors Delight gelding won the fifth heat of the series while Justa Little Bit is in the $12,000 Hygain Star Maker Final for three year old’s after taking out the Prelude.

Maitland reinsman’s Brad Elder has retained the drive behind My Ultimate Star and after handling the reins behind the gelding on three occasions for three wins is confident of a good showing in the Golden Guitar Final.

Elder drove My Ultimate Star to take out both the 2020 running of the Prelude and Final of the Hygain Star Maker Final and is looking to make it back-to-back feature wins in the 2021 running of the Golden Guitar Final.

The running of the fifth heat saw Miss Ciriello (Josh Gallagher) and $2.50 race favourite Chasing the Wind (Amanda Turnbull) heading up the field with My Ultimate Star settling four back on the outside.

Elder made his bold bid for entry into the Golden Guitar Final with My Ultimate Star in the last lap, taking off three-wide around the field.

“I like driving the horse,” said Elder after the win.

“Jarrod had him spot-on tonight for the race.

“He has just got real push-button speed when you ask him to go.

“When we burned them off down the back, I knew he was home because he just keeps on running.

“I was really happy with his performance.

“Ideally I’d have liked to settle a bit closer but after drawing barrier 10 we ended up one-out and four-back in the running line.”

As the field raced out of the back straight on the final occasion My Ultimate Star produced an impressive run to come away for an 11.3 metre win over Fifteen Aces (Nathan Xuereb) with Miss Ciriello (Josh Gallagher) a head away third.

“I have qualified two runners for the final – My Ultimate Star and Tygar – but I will most probably elect to drive My Ultimate Star in the final,” said Elder.

After confirming that Brad Elder would take the reins behind My Ultimate Star in the $30,000 Multiquip Golden Guitar Final, trainer Jarrod Alchin then made his way into the final of the Hygain Star Maker.

Stablemate Justa Little Bit made it a family affair in taking out the Prelude with the Cammibest-In The Midnight Hour three-year-old colt with Jarrod Alchin listed as both trainer and driver and his wife Stephanie listed as the owner.

“The horse is such a casual fellow and he just does what he has to in a race,” said Alchin.

Justa Little Bit, as the $1.65 race favourite, took the lead in the Prelude and set the tempo to his liking before coming away for a 6.3 metre win over Blue Ocean (Mat Rue) with For No Reason (Phoebe Betts) 8.4 metres away third.

“It was a bit of a worry as to if he would handle the track but he got around it really well,” said Alchin with Justa Little Bit producing his fifth race win at race start 10 and three minor placings.

“Hopefully the stable will have a big night on Sunday – it is good to be a part of the Carnival here at Tamworth and hopefully we get some good draws,” said Alchin.

My Ultimate Star has drawn the eight barrier for Brad Elder in the $30,000 Multiquip Golden Guitar Final while Jarrod Alchin to handle the reins behind Justa Little Bit who has drawn the nine barrier in the $12,000 Hygain Star Maker Final.
