All aboard the band wagon!
EVERY fibre in my body is in pain typing this…not just as a Carlton supporter, but as a self-respecting Australian!
That said, it is footy finals time and one club’s bandwagon grows exponentially during this time of the year…isn’t that right Kim and Tina?
With that in mind, a two-year-old in Mount Gambier tonight must be an omen bet.
For Richmond fans and their bandwagon backing the colt to win is a must…for those who love watching Richmond lose – which is approximately 99 per cent of the population – back it to get beaten!
Set to make his debut, the youngster in question is Tiger Band Wagon.
The David Drury-trained son of Rock N Roll Heaven is engaged in race six as part of the South Australian meeting in what also doubles as the opening event in Mount Gambier.
Believed to be a first, Harness Racing SA is conducting one meeting across two tracks, with the first five races to be held in Port PIrie.
With both regions hit hard by Covid restrictions leaving locals with few racing options, the governing body has elected to split the meeting to ensure participants can remain active.
Given the horse population can’t support a full program the move was made to split the night.
As for Tiger Band Wagon, he has drawn well in barrier three, which has him listed as the $3.50 third favourite.
“He has been training up really well,” Drury said. “How that translates to the race track we will find out tonight.
“I’m happy enough with his work and his fitness, but he is going into this as an unknown prospect.
“As long as he runs a competitive race I will be pleased with him.”
HOOFNOTE: Another pacer to back for a win or to be beaten depending on you sanity is The Tiger Army at Club Menangle on Saturday night.
