PROUD matron Jenny Alchin strengthened her claims for Broodmare of the Year.
Already the dam of two Group One winners this season, Alchin had three of her progeny compete at Club Menangle yesterday, with each triumphant.
Alchin is the mum of successful horsemen Jarrod, Rickie and Alex whom completed a family first by training winners on the same card.
Rickie led the way with a double, while also driving for Alex.
“That’s the first time the three of us have trained a winner at a meeting,” Rickie said. “It may even be a first for Australia having three brother train a winner on the same card.
“My two were a $1.10, Jarrod’s was the second favourite so they were right in the market.
“Alex’s paid $23, but two days ago on the radio I said he was a big chance.”
Making his debut, Im Vexatious caused the upset by covering the mile in 1:55.3 as Matai Reactor and Manly Mach filled the placings.
Heston Zoolander then produced a ‘magnum’ performance to score six-and-a-half metres from Im Bills Last, with Idle Hands a head away third.
Prepared by Jarrod and driven by Cameron Hart, Heston Zoolander stopped the clock in 1:54.1.
Earlier on the program Watts Up Majestic rounded off his Derby preparation with a 16-metre victory in 1:58.2 over 2300 metres.
Trained and driven by Rickie, the son of Majestic Son will head south of the Murray for the Victoria Trotters’ Derby heats in Maryborough on October 24.
Rickie rounded out his double when Captain Crusader led throughout in 1:52.9, with Rocket Boy and Stravinsky among the placings.
“It was a good day for us brothers,” Rickie said. “I don’t want to brag, but I did get a double though!”
