Busy schedule ahead of Group One appearance

PROMINENT reinsman Robbie Morris will complete a busy week at Club Menangle on Saturday when he partners Little Bliss in the TAB Regional Championships  Metropolitan Final for his good mate Troy Williams.

The mare secured the last spot in the $100,000 Group One with her eye-catching second behind Major Jared in heat five on May 10.

After being shuffled back along the pegs, Little Bliss was probing for a run rounding the home turn before Morris moved her to the extreme outside where she rattled home, only going down by a neck.

The daughter of Art Major will start from gate five in the Final, and although she is among the outsiders, Morris believes she can upset her more fancied rivals.

“Going on her run in the heat, she is certainly a genuine contender,” Morris said.

“She got a long way out of her ground in the heat and dashed to the line strongly to be only beaten by a bare margin.

“Troy has done a great job with her as she has won five races for him and it would be very satisfying if we could upset the apple cart and win this Group One.”

Morris will also travel to Newcastle on Friday night to drive Sir Richard Lee in the Hunter TAB Regional Championships Consolation.

The charismatic reinsman is again on target to crack 100 wins in a season, which is a feat he has achieved for the past 10 terms.

With his tally sitting on 48 wins and with more than seven months remaining, it seems inevitable Morris will reach the century.

Morris’ busy schedule will also see him head to Penrith tomorrow night with a book of four drives.

“I am actually quite keen on the chances of the four that I am driving,” Morris said.

“Money Honey has drawn poorly in the first but she is the class runner in the field. If I land a good spot early, she will go close to winning.

“Bettor To Be Tricky (race 5) is one of the stable favourites. He has drawn nicely and is flying at present.

“I also fancy Shadow Eclipse in the last. He loves the Penrith track and I think he is ready to win again.”
