Drawn to break maiden status

CONSISTENT youngster Bettaminethanyours has a prime opportunity to break a frustrating string of placings at Globe Derby tonight.

Looking to register her maiden victory, the Gary Hill-trained filly has finished third in each of her three starts.

“She gets her chance to break through tonight,” Hill said. “She has come along really well so far and only needs a touch of luck to get that first win on the board.”

To be driven by Hill’s daughter Dani, Bettaminethanyours gained some early ‘touch of luck’ via the draw, with the two-year-old to begin from the pole.

Hill is confident Bettaminethanyours can lead throughout the 1800-metre trip.

Betting markets echo Hill’s belief, with the daughter of ill-fated stallion Alta Christiano a $1.75 favourite.

Sadly Alta Christiano succumbed to complications from surgery after a six-day battle with colic during the weekend.

“I’m pretty happy with that draw and expect she can lead from there,” Hill said. “The biggest concern is something comes out brilliantly and crosses her.

“She will be very hard to beat if she can find the front, but I think she will run a pretty cheeky race either way.

Positive Bettaminethanyours can develop into a “pretty handy type”, Hill plans to give her a limited campaign.

“I’m likely to give her only a couple more starts and then freshen her up a bit,” Hill said. “I want to look after her as I think she’s go a bit of a future.”
