APG graduates dominated Gold Crown card

AUSTRALIAN Pacing Gold graduates dominated the famed Bathurst Gold Crown card during the weekend.

APG purchases won six of the 10 races conducted throughout the evening, including two Group Ones.

Jay Ok started the ball rolling in the opening event before Radar Stride, Atomic Red, Our Antonio Rose, Joanna and Tasty Delight joined the colt in the winners’ circle.

Joanna and Tasty Delight became APG’s latest Group One stars.

Prepared by record-breaking horsewoman Emma Stewart, Joanna led throughout from barrier three to capture the Gold Tiara Final in a brilliant 1:53.8.

By ill-fated sire Somebeachsomewhere, the filly is from former top mare Repelem.

Tasty Delight then outstayed a top field in the Bathurst Gold Crown for trainer Brian Portelli.

With Portelli in the sulky, Tasty Delight travelled in the ‘death seat’ before scoring in 1:54.4.

Owned by Charlie Cordina, the two-year-old took his record to four wins and a third from five starts for earnings of $85,450.
