CHAMPION horseman Mark Purdon looks set to continue his amazing association with the New South Wales Oaks.
Establishing a remarkable affiliation with the Blue Riband in recent years the New Zealander has trained four of the past five winners.
Beginning with Fight For Glory in 2016, Purdon then prepared Our Dream About Me to capture the 2017 edition before Partyon completed a hat-trick in 2018.
Purdon then co-trained Our Princess Tiffany to win last season’s edition.
Purdon’s partner Natalie Rasmussen drove Fight For Glory and Our Dream About Me, while he took the reins behind Partyon and Our Princess Tiffany.
At Club Menangle on Saturday night Purdon will take the reins behind classy filly Stylish Memphis in the Group One for co- trainers Mark Jones and Brendon Hill.
Winner of her heat at the world class venue last weekend, Stylish Memphis has drawn to lead throughout from the pole.
TAB Fixed Odds reacted by installing the daughter of Bettors Delight as a $1.60 favourite.
“Mark has been looking after her for us over there and he is happy with her,” Jones said. “If Mark Purdon is happy, then we are happy!
“She finally drew a descent barrier and it could be our turn to get a bit of luck for a change.”
Successful in last month’s Victoria Oaks – in which Stylish Memphis was a four-and-a-half metre second – Dr Susan is considered the main danger despite her wide barrier.
Drawn gate 11 the daughter of Bettors Delight slots into nine with the removal of the emergencies.
TAB Fixed Odds has Dr Susan at $4, with Victorian raider Maajida the only other runner under double figures at $4.50 from barrier five.
Like Stylish Memphis, Dr Susan and Maajida won their heats.
