Fakin proves he’s the ‘real deal’

NEXT month’s New South Wales Derby heats are the main focus with promising youngster He Aint Fakin.

Returning from a 10-week break with a Group Two win at Club Menangle tonight, He Aint Fakin has been set for the qualifiers by trainer Chris Frisby.

Heats of the Blue Riband are scheduled to be held at the world class venue on February 27, with the Final part of the Miracle Mile program the following week.

“I’ve been working him up with the Derby heats in mind,” Frisby said. “I wasn’t even originally planning on racing him tonight, but he trialled so well on Monday, I put him in.

“He’ll definitely get better for the run and with another start or two before the heats will be right at his best.

“I was very pleased with the way he went first-up from a break.”

With Anthony Frisby holding the reins, He Aint Fakin was settled midfield from barrier seven as Watts Up Sunshine led and Tasty Delight was forced to work overtime in the ‘death seat’.

Pulled to the extreme outside around the final bend the son of Art Major unleased a brilliant sprint to complete a five-metre victory from Tasty Delight, which was first-up since late October.

Lyrical Genius was six metres away third.

“The way he sprinted when he was out in the clear was pretty impressive,” Frisby said. “With a run like that he is always going to be hard to hold out in any company.”

Covering the mile in 1:51.3, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase stretched his record to six wins and two seconds from 12 starts for earnings of $70,999.
