Final touches ahead of interstate campaign

EXCITING pacer Hi Manameisjeff will round off his preparation ahead of a Queensland campaign when he returns to Club Menangle this weekend.

Scoring at the world class venue a fortnight ago when first-up since his unplaced effort in the Miracle Mile on March 9, Hi Manameisjeff is a hot favourite in Saturday night’s Golden Mile .

A Group Two winner for his previous trainer Russell Jack, Hi Manameisjeff has reached new heights under Jason Grimson’s guidance, winning nine of his 10 starts leading into the Miracle Mile, including the Group One Allied Express Sprint.

As for his pending assignment, Hi Manameisjeff will begin from the outside of the front row – barrier 10 – with Jack Callaghan to hold the reins.

Despite his tough draw, the son of Art Major is a $1.30 TAB Fixed Odds favourite, with his stablemate, Hot And Treacherous, the only other runner under double figures at $4.20.

Bailey McDonough has been booked to partner Hot And Treacherous from gate three.

Grimson is planning to take a sizable squad north for Winter Carnival in coming weeks, with Hi Manameisjeff being aimed at key targets such as the Sunshine Sprint on July 20 and The Blacks A Fake a week later.

The ‘Grimson Group’ will be headed by Swayzee, which is also being readied for the two features.

Swayzee is unbeaten from two starts this season, including a 1:52.8 success over 2300 metres last week.

Hi Manameisjeff and Swayzee will be joined by stable newcomer District Attorney, which won last Sunday’s Treuer Memorial in Bankstown at his Grimson debut.
