SENT interstate in hope of earning a northern feature campaign, District Attorney has wasted no time signalling his intentions.

With a vision of contesting Queensland’s Winter Carnival, Victorian owners Ted and Blake Caruana decided to send their talented pacer to genius trainer Jason Grimson.

Immediately benefitting from Grimson’s ‘Midas touch’, District Attorney captured yesterday’s Treuer Memorial in his debut for the New South Wales horseman.

Naturally thrilled with the outcome, the Caruanas are ready to book their passage to the Sunshine State!

“Dad was talking about giving him a crack at the feature races in Queensland over the winter and I knew Jason was the trainer to send him to,” Blake explained.

“He only got up there last week and we hadn’t given the Treuer a thought until Jason rang and told us he was in it.

“He’s always shown he has ability and it’s great to see him back on the winners’ list.

“Queensland is definitely the go, but whether he races again before then, I don’t know…we’re leaving it to Jason.”

Driven by Jack Callaghan, District Attorney began quickly to lead from barrier three before being eased to take a trail behind Don Lou, which worked forward from gate five.

Angled to the outside at the top of the home straight, the son of Courage Under Fire regained the front in the shadows of the post to score by a half-head from the pacemaker.

Jay Ok was 15 metres away third in 1:59.2 over 2540 metres.
