Fitzpatrick back for more

A REGULAR fixture at Club Menangle on a Tuesday, prominent trainer Blake Fitzpatrick has a strong presence yet again today.

Rarely without several runners during a meeting at the world class venue, Fitzpatrick is also rarely away from the winners’ circle.

With numerous representatives of his stable in action, Fitzpatrick should have no trouble acquainting himself with the number one stall once more.

Fitzpatrick will kick-start his assault with a pair of two-year-olds in the third heat of the Cordina Foods Co Trotters’ Foundation Series.

Fifth during his first two starts – both in Foundation Series heats – San Antonio will aim to break his maiden once again.

With Fitzpatrick’s daughter Zara to take the reins, San Antonio will begin from gate four.

San Antonio is the second foal from French broodmare Falaise Madrik, which is a half-sister to champion squaregaiter The Best Madrik.

Fitzpatrick will partner Hampton Court from barrier six, with the gelding making a belated debut due to a minor setback, which saw him scratched from the opening heat on April 14.

From Group One winning mare Royal Treat, Hampton Court traces back to the great La Coocaracha.

One of the greatest trotting mares produced in the southern hemisphere, La Coocaracha won six Group Ones on both sides of the Tasman during the early 2000s.

As a broodmare La Coocaracha is exceeding her racing feats.

Recently retired from breeding, the matron boasts 10 winners from 11 starters, including three Group One winners and a Group Two winner.

La Coocaracha is also the grand dam of a Group One and two Group Three winners.

La Coocaracha’s grandson – a colt from her daughter Dance Craze – sold for a record $250,000 last month.

Dance Craze was prepared throughout her career by Anton Golino, who has Majaro Girl drawn barrier six.

A daughter of Group Two winner Monaro Maro, Majaro Girl has produced a pair of eye-catching runs, finishing third upon debut followed by a solid fourth.

Star concession reinsman Jye Coney will partner Majaro Girl.

Despite being the widest drawn in gate seven, Hilldale Hilton is the one to beat on the strength of his success last week.

Trained and driven by Rickie Alchin, Hilldale Hilton began from the same barrier before racing in the ‘death seat’ on his way to a 1:58.6 victory over a mile.

Second in both heats, Chief Kenny should figure prominently again for trainer KerryAnn Morris.

Morris’ husband Robbie will drive the son of On A Streak from barrier three.

In the following event Fitzpatrick has Princess Du Fer drawn to complete an overdue victory.

Runner-up in three of her last four starts, Princess Du Fer will begin from one on the 10-metre mark with Fitzpatrick in the cart. There are no starters on the front line.

Zara will drive Valtino in the same event, with the stallion one of seven sharing the 40-metre backmark.
