Spectacular start to Pink campaign

CLUB Menangle’s annual Pacing For Pink campaign got off to a spectacular start on Saturday 2 May, with the track turning pink in support of the McGrath Foundation.

The third running of Coutts Pacing For Pink proved to be the most successful edition, with all hospitality packages sold out and a large crowd of racing fans descending on Club Menangle for a thrilling night of harness racing featuring four Group One events.

Throughout the month of May, Club Menangle has committed to donating funds for success at the track across eight race meetings, with the following initiatives in place:

• $200 for each win recorded by a driver wearing the pink pants at Club Menangle
• $200 for each win recorded by a female trainer at Club Menangle
• $200 for each win recorded by a horse carrying saddlecloth number eight at Club Menangle

The McGrath Foundation donations were launched with driver Ashleigh Delosa recording a running double in Races One and Two Soho Gunslinger and Colossal Hope while wearing the pink pants.

Momentum followed with female trainer victories from Amanda Turnbull with Seasider and Emma Stewart with Arrhythmia.

Additional contributions came via saddlecloth number eight wins by Ripp for trainer‑driver Bernie Hewitt and Rockinwithattitude for trainer‑driver David Miles.

Off the track tribute act FABBA headlined the night with a three‑set performance. Aussie Night Markets, roving entertainers, a trackside DJ and a pink carpet arrival set the scene for vibrant atmosphere across the precinct.

Club Menangle Chief Executive Bruce Christison said,: “It was a fantastic launch to our annual Pacing For Pink campaign, with so many wins recorded by drivers donning the pink pants, female trainers and horses carrying saddlecloth number eight.

“This initiative is something that is close to the hearts of many involved with the Club – from our Board and staff through to participants and the local community – and it is incredibly rewarding to be able to give back and support the vital work of the McGrath Foundation.

Pacing For Pink is a national initiative founded in Victoria and now celebrated across Australia, with drivers in all states voluntarily donning the pink pants from 1 to 31 May in support of the campaign.
