FORMER star filly Speak No Evil will be an intriguing starter at Club Menangle on Saturday night.
Sidelined since capturing the Australasian Breeders’ Crown in August 2018, Speak No Evil won 11 of her last 12 outings, with her defeat a half-neck second behind Shez All Rock in the Victoria Oaks.
During the interim Speak No Evil became a mum while being the subject of a stable change.
Prepared by record-breaking horsewoman Emma Stewart, for whom she won two Group Ones, the daughter of Well Said has become a member of the Craig Cross stable.
Speak No Evil has a three-month old filly by Captaintreacherous which was foaled via embryo transfer.
As for her racing return, Speak No Evil is engaged in the Robin Dundee Stake as connections aim for a berth in next week’s Ladyship Mile.
To be driven by Luke McCarthy, the mare has drawn to find the front from barrier two.
TAB Fixed Odds have Speak No Evil listed as a $2.50 favourite on the strength of her recent 1:52.4 trial win.
“She has been in work for quite a while,” Cross said. “She spent a bit of time on the water walker early on and has been doing track work for a good period.
“I was happy with her trial and she has really come along well since.
“Obviously whatever she does on the weekend she will improve on, but she is forward enough to put in a good showing.”
Although reported to have fibrillated last week star New Zealand mare Princess Tiffany is the one to beat according to Cross.
Drawn barrier 11, Princess Tiffany is a $2.90 second favourite.
