WELL-BRED filly Aces Daughter will continue her march towards feature targets when she heads to Globe Derby today.
A last start winner at the venue, Aces Daughter is being eased along by trainer Ray Holberton who has set his sights on majors such as the South Australia Oaks, Southern Cross and Mermaid Stake.
The Oaks is scheduled for March 21, with the Mermaid on April 25 and the Southern Cross beginning in May.
“She is coming along nicely and hopefully can keep that going when the better races come along,” Holberton said.
“I’ll set her for the Oaks, Mermaid and Southern Cross and we’ll just have to see how she is going as each one comes along.
“She has been improving all preparation and deserves a shot at those at this stage.”
As for her pending assignment, Aces Daughter has drawn awkwardly in barrier five.
To be driven by Tiana McMahon, the daughter of Alta Christiano is a $1.55 favourite with TAB Fixed Odds.
Fairiesdelight is considered the main danger at $2 from gate four.
“The draw could be tricky but hopefully it won’t be a problem,” Holberton said.
“She’s worked on terrifically since her win a fortnight ago and I expect her to be better again today.”
