Ideal time to break bridesmaid status

CONSISTENT filly Majestical Belle chose an ideal time to break her recent bridesmaid status.

Runner-up during her four previous starts, Majestical Belle became the ‘bride’ in a big way at Tabcorp Park Melton last night, winning a Vicbred Super Series Final.

Before her string of seconds Majestical Belle ran a pair of thirds for trainer Fred Spiteri.

“She has barely set a hoof wrong since I started with her,” Spiteri said. “No matter what I ask of her she just puts in her best every time.

“Her record shows how consistent she is and with the right run she is capable of matching the best of her age.

“She picked a good time to get another win on the board after finding one better in her starts lately.”

One of four Spiteri-trained entrants in the Group One, Majestical Belle was eased towards the tail of the field from her second row draw as her stablemate Electrojet found the early lead.

Angled three-wide during the middle stages, the trotter was sent forward to face the breeze as the favourite Illawong Stardust worked to the front.

With Illawong Stardust breaking stride at the top of the home straight, Majestical Belle dashed to the front before completing an 11-and-a-half metre win from Ofortuna.

After occupying the ‘death seat’ early, Imamaorijet was three-and-a-half metres away third.

“It’s hard to say whether she would’ve run down the leader, but given the way she finished it would have been close,” Spiteri said.

“That’s racing though and we all know how important manners can be with young trotters.”

Owned by Spiteri, the daughter of Majestic Son rated 1:59.9 over 2240 metres to take her record to four wins and eight placings from 15 starts for earnings of $71,660.

“She only started racing this season, so she has done a huge job,” Spitieri said. “I’ll give her a couple of months off now and then see what is around for her after that.”
