MAJESTIC CRUISER
If he never wins another race I can’t complain

ALTHOUGH he’s got his sights set on more interstate riches, South Australian owner Des Glynn has adopted a philosophical approach to his latest success.
An active industry participant for five decades, Glynn bred and owns Majestic Cruiser with his wife, Heather.
A revelation since being transferred to New South Wales horseman Jason Grimson, Majestic Cruiser upstaged his more fancied rivals to capture The Blacks A Fake at Albion Park during the weekend.
Triumphant in New Zealand’s Messenger Championship earlier this season, Majestic Cruiser’s victory provided the Glynns with their maiden Grand Circuit win.
“It’s very pleasing the way he has come on this season,” Glynn said. “I’ve been in the game since the early 1970s and that’s the first time we have won a Grand Circuit race.
“We’ll try for more later in the year like the Victoria Cup and Inter Dominion, but if he never wins another race I can’t complain as he’s done a terrific job.
“We weren’t able to go to Queensland to watch him, but we watched it on television and were pretty excited.”
Gaining his love for horses from his father, Michael, Glynn was working in the dairy industry when he decided to make the switch to standardbreds.
“My father had gallopers as an owner and was quite successful in country races,” Glynn said.
“When he died we stopped being in racing for a while, then my brother Terry and I were dairying together and I came back again into it in the early ’70s.
“Two of my brothers, the other one being Tony, came into it with me.
“Greenfire was trained by Jimmy Holberton when he won his first race for me in harness racing.
“I’ve been breeding for the last 10 years and bought Majestic Cruiser’s mum on the proviso the foal she was carrying was a colt.
“I named him Rocknroll Cruiser and he won four races and ran five placings from 20 starts.
“Majestic Cruiser was her next foal and her latest foal is a half-sister to him, plus she is in foal and due to in November,”
