I’ve lost it all…everything in my life was in that house
“I’VE lost it all…everything in my life was in that house.”
That’s the sad reality veteran horseman Tony Peacock woke up to this morning after a fire destroyed his home yesterday evening.
Instead of enjoying an Easter break with his family Peacock stood by helpless as fire fighters attempted to save his home.
Sadly their efforts were in vain as Peacock’s Moama house became a pile of ash and rubble.
“We have a couple of fire places and my partner Shelley lit them around five o’clock as it started to become chilly and then went out to do other things,” Peacock explained.
“Shelley’s son Bryce was asleep in the house with his four-year-old son and woke up with his eyes burning with irritation.
“He couldn’t see any smoke but soon realised what was happening and was lucky to get out of the house.
“I’ve lost it all…everything in my life was in that house.
“All my racing memorabilia, passports the lot…it’s gone
“The only saving grace is nobody was hurt and we can be thankful of that.”
With word of the tragedy quickly spreading among family and the local community, Peacock has been shocked by the amount of support received in such a short time.
“You have no idea how many people have come to help,” Peacock said. “We’ve received so many things to refurnish the other dwelling on the property we might have to have a garage sale!
“Seriously, we are overwhelmed by the support and it just shows how people come together in such times and it very touching…we cannot thank everyone enough.”
