Looking to break family hoodoo

HISTORY and the draw are against her, but Our Little Jet is ready to break the hoodoo.

Like her siblings, Our Little Jet has qualified for a two-year-old Vicbred Super Series Final.

That’s where the family jinx comes into play!

Our Little General was runner-up in the 2016 Final, while Ladies In Red finished second last year after being undefeated from nine starts.

Along with a similar name to Our Little General, Our Little Jet has the same form heading into the Group One, with a win in her heat before finishing second in a semi.

As was the case with the previous two, Our Little Jet will come from the second row.

Our Little General and Ladies In Red drew barrier eight, with Our Little Jet to begin from nine for premier horsewoman Emma Stewart, who has trained the trio.

“We thought we were big chances with Our Little General and Ladies In Red and fell just short,” Stewart said. “Hopefully Our Little Jet can do what the others couldn’t and come home with the win.

“It’s fair to say her season hasn’t been up to the heights Our Little General and Ladies In Red reached but she can turn that around tomorrow night.

“She’s going to need a lot of luck, but she’s in with a shot.”

Ladies In Red is also back to make amends for her defeat and has ironically drawn barrier nine!

As was the case in 2020, Ladies In Red heads into the $130,000 decider with wins in her heat and semi-final.

“We know she is the class filly of the field, but as last year showed, she’s no certainty,” Stewart said.

“That said, even from the draw it is hard seeing her being beaten…hopefully she can get the job done this time.”
