One win away from history
VICTORY in Sunday’s Kapunda Trotters’ Cup will see Ryan Hryhorec create history.
Having captured each of South Australia’s provincial features this season, Hryhorec is aiming to complete an unprecedented clean sweep of the Trotters’ Cups.
While the circuit isn’t as large as other states, Hryhorec will become the first Australian trainer to achieve the feat.
Hryhorec secured the first two with Mass Destruction before C K Spur won the next three.
Mass Destruction will once again lead the charge for Hryhorec, who will also be represented by Aldebaran Alissa.
“I’ve had an unbelievable run in the Trotters’ Cups,” Hryhorec said. “It’d be nice if that can continue for the last of them on Sunday.
“All this has been building up to the SA Trotters’ Cup at the end of the month and I can only hope we take that one out as well.
“It won’t be easy on Sunday or the week after in the main Cup, but we’ll be doing our best.”
To be driven by Hryhorec, Mass Destruction is the sole starter from the 20-metre mark, while Aldebaran Alissa is the widest of the four runners on the front line.
Despite her wayward standing start manners, Aldebaran Alissa is listed as the $3 favourite, with Mass Destruction the second elect at $3.50.
“I worked Mass Destruction this morning and he felt huge,” Hryhorec said. “He is ready to put in another big run, but it won’t be easy under the conditions.
“Kapunda isn’t the best track to come from behind and the 2220 metres doesn’t help either.
“Hopefully he can begin well and be close to them soon after the start.
“Aldebaran Alissa is also feeling good, and as long as she goes away cleanly, she will be right in the finish.”
