Perfect debut

CREATING an impression during her trials, Peachesncream lived up to expectations in her racing debut.

Runner-up at her first public appearance, Peachesncream won her next three trials in eye-catching fashion for trainer Jarrod Alchin, including a 24-metre win in 1:56.2 over a mile a fortnight ago.

Taken to Club Menangle on a more official basis yesterday, the daughter of Ultimate Machete proved too good in an Australian Pacing Gold Prelude.

Rapt with Peachesncream’s performance, Alchin believes the two-year-old has the potential to be among the best of her crop.

“I really like her, she has plenty of ability,” Alchin said. “The motor is definitely there, but she is still just so green.

“As she gains experience and learns how to race better, I expect her to go a fair way.”

With Cameron Hart holding the reins, Peachesncream was beaten for speed from the pole as Cocteau Diamond began brilliantly to lead from barrier six.

Instantly angled away from the pegs to find the front, Peachesncream was then eased to take a trail behind Mac Tilly, which was pushed forward from barrier 10.

Taken to the outside turning for home, the filly sprinted to a six-metre win from Swinging Queen, with Sophies Way two-and-a-half metres away third in 1:55.8 for the 1609-metre trip.

“That was a pretty nice run from her,” Alchin said. “I was confident before the run and she went along as I expected.

“She won’t race again now until the Final on June 13, so I’ll just keep her ticking along at home until then.”
