Promising pair chasing second win

PROMISING youngsters Majaro Girl and Hilldale Hilton will aim to become the first of their crop to register a second win when they venture to Club Menangle today.

The pair have had three starts, with each of their runs coming via New South Wales Foundation Series heats.

Hilldale Hilton was successful at his second outing, while Majaro Girl won the third qualifier.

Queenslander Im Frankee captured the opening heat before being returned to the Sunshine State.

Although drawn wide, Hilldale Hilton and Majaro Girl remain the two to beat.

Third upon debut, followed by an eye-catching fourth, Majaro Girl will begin from barrier six for multiple Group One winning trainer Anton Golino.

The ‘tiny’ daughter of Group Two winner Monaro Maro will be driven by star concession reinsman Jye Coney, who partnered the squaregaiter during her 1:59 win.

“She is only a tiny thing…very tiny!” Golino said. “She’d be pushing 13 hands, but she has a bit of a motor and the potential to be a very handy filly.

“At the moment her gate speed is impressive and she is learning quite nicely as she goes.

“In fact, the last two weeks since her win is the most she’s been switched on and I’ve noticed the improvement in her.

“I expect another good run from her in this heat.”

Unplaced at his first start, Hilldale Hilton followed his win by filling the minor placing behind Majaro Girl and San Antonio at his third outing.

Driven by his trainer Rickie Alchin during his victory, Hilldale Hilton raced in the ‘death seat’ on his way to a 1:58.6 effort over a mile.

Ashleigh Delosa will take the reins behind the son of Pastor Stephen from barrier five, with Alchin to drive Hilldale Hilton’s stablemate, Summer Kiss.

Poised to make her debut, Summer Kiss will come from gate three.

The daughter of Classic Connection finished third and second in her two trials.

Second in the first two heats followed by a handy fourth, Chief Kenny should make his presence felt for trainer KerryAnn Morris.

Morris’ husband Robbie will drive the son of On A Streak from the pole.

Breaking stride when in a prominent position during his debut a fortnight ago, Hampton Court has the opportunity for redemption from barrier two for leading trainer Blake Fitzpatrick.

From Group One winning mare Royal Treat, Hampton Court traces back to the great La Coocaracha.

One of the greatest trotting mares produced in the southern hemisphere, La Coocaracha won six Group Ones on both sides of the Tasman during the early 2000s.

As a broodmare La Coocaracha is exceeding her racing feats with 10 winners from 11 starters, including three Group One winners and a Group Two winner.

La Coocaracha is also the grand dam of a Group One and two Group Three winners.

La Coocaracha’s grandson – a colt from her daughter Dance Craze – sold for a record $250,000 last month.
