OUTSTANDING filly Double Expresso “has plenty of options” in her bid for another Group One victory.
Successful in two top shelf events during her debut season, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase has added a pair of Group Twos to her tally this term.
At Gloucester Park tomorrow night Double Expresso will tackle the Western Australia Oaks for prominent trainer Ross Olivieri, who is thrilled with the three-year-old’s progress heading into the Blue Riband.
“She has trained on brilliantly since her win against the boys a couple of weeks ago,” Olivieri said.
“Her work has been better than anything she has done so far and I couldn’t be happier with her.
“This is the best Oaks field I can remember, but I’m still pretty confident with her.”
Adding to Olivieri’s joy is Double Expresso’s draw, with the daughter of Sweet Lou to come from barrier three.
TAB Fixed Odds have reacted by listed the youngster as a $1.50 favourite.
Another daughter of Sweet Lou – My Sweet Deal – is considered the main danger at $5.50 from gate two.
Although drawn awkwardly in barrier six, Fifty Five Reborn is the only other runner under double figures at $9.50.
“I can’t complain about the draw,” Olivieri said. “She will be coming out looking for a the lead from there.
“Whether she can cross the two drawn inside her we will wait and see, but I think she is ideally placed from there…she has plenty of options”
