Primed to maintain undefeated record

UNDEFEATED youngster Ideal Frankie is expected to have no trouble maintaining her perfect record on the weekend.

Triumphant in her two starts for astute horseman Allan McDonough, Ideal Frankie’s victories include an Australian Pacing Gold Prelude in Kilmore last week.

Driven by Mark Pitt, the daughter of American Ideal captured the qualifier by an incredible 46.9 metres in 1:57.7 over 1690 metres.

As such, Ideal Frankie is a hot favourite for Saturday night’s $100,000 APG Final in Melton.

With Pitt to take the reins again, Ideal Frankie will also be out to avenge one of her mother’s defeats, with Pistol Abbey finishing third in the 2017 APG Final.

Pleased with the filly’s progress, McDonough is positive Ideal Frankie can continue her winning way from barrier four.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way she has pulled up,” McDonough said. “As soon as she got home she ate up and the next morning you wouldn’t even have known she’d gone around.

“Her work since has been terrific and she’s ready to go again.

“From that draw we will be pushing forward looking for the front, but leading isn’t her only option.”

Fifth in the prelude, which doubled as her debut, Breaking News has drawn to figure more prominently from gate three for trainer Russell Campbell.

Success in the Sales-based series will see Breaking News join family members Lombo Pocket Watch, Lombo Skyrider and Suave Stuey Lombo on the honour roll.
