Trainer achieves “very satisfying result”

PROMINENT trainer Trent Hoare achieved a “very satisfying result” at Port Pirie last Saturday night.

Along with registering a double, Hoare’s haul includes a trifecta in the Kingsley Lane Memorial.

It is the first time Hoare has registered the feat.

“It was a very satisfying result,” Hoare said. “I’ve never trained a quinella before let alone a trifecta.

“Except for a possible triple dead-heat, I can’t ask for more than a trifecta from three starters.

“The market said they were the three best in the race, but they had to get out there and do it.”

Driven by premier reinsman Wayne Hill, Tiger Roars led home the trio by covering the mile in 2:02.3 as My Ultimate Banjo and Ice Queen filled the placings.

“Of the three, I would have said Tiger Roars would’ve finished third, so the finishing order was a surprise,” Hoare said. “Overall, I think Ice Queen has the most scope to be the best of the trio.”

Earlier on the card After The Chase continued his impressive form since arriving at Hoare’s stable.

Winless from eight starts last season, After The Chase boasts five wins and three placings from 11 starts for Hoare.

With Michael Smith holding the reins, After The Chase worked to the lead from barrier five before cruising to a 16-metre win from Neds Beach.

Dashing Cowboy was 13 metres away third as the winner stopped the clock in 1:59.3 over a mile.

“The race didn’t pan out as I thought it would, but we got the result I hoped for,” Hoare said. “I felt Dashing Cowboy would lead, which he did, but he galloped which changed the complexion of the race.

“Michael took the initiative to go forward, and I did wonder how he would go as we haven’t had him lead before, but he went great.”
