Winning streak set to continue

HE STILL has a few wins to go, but Dont Need An Excuse is on track to become Anthony Robinson’s most successful pacer.

Transferred to the astute horseman last May, Dont Need An Excuse is unbeaten from five starts for Robinson.

Engaged at Globe Derby tomorrow night, the son of Net Ten Eom is a $1.04 favourite to stretch his sequence to six.

Should Dont Need An Excuse emerge triumphant during the weekend he will then aim to equal Young Jate which holds the longest winning streak for the stable.

Young Jate won seven consecutive races in April and May 1999.

Robinson has no doubt Dont Need An Excuse is capable surpassing Young Jate’s record.

“He has been doing it with ease and is still lightly assessed,” Robinson said. “There is no reason why he can’t string a few more wins together.

“Thanks to the local regulation here he drops back in national rating again on Saturday which will make him very hard to beat.”

To be driven by Robinson the four-year-old has a national rating of 52 but drops back to a 48 in South Australia.

Dont Need An Excuse is the widest drawn of the seven runners.

“I can’t see him being beaten, but you never know in racing,” Robinson said. “He has done everything with ease so far including last week when his hopple broke.”
