Reinswoman’s weekend to remember

TASBRED reinswoman Taylor Ford has enjoyed a weekend to remember.

Ford’s stellar stint started with last night’s Melton meeting, where she partnered The Last Trip to an emphatic win.

Having just his second outing following an 18-month break, The Last Trip worked to the lead from barrier seven before cruising to a 48-and-a-half metre victory.

Rating 1:51.8 over 1720 metres as Don Crunch and Tricode filled the placings, the son of Poster Boy provided Ford with her maiden Saturday night success.

Trained by premier horsewoman Emma Stewart, The Last Trip was triumphant in a series heat in Kilmore 10 days earlier when also driven by Ford.

“I worked him up before he went to Emma’s and I can’t thank everyone enough for giving me the drives behind him in the heat and Final,” Ford said. “After the way he went in the heat I felt he had the Final won before the draw even came out.

“Then last night he felt unstoppable and just gave me a great feeling from the moment we stepped on to the track.”

Making her way to Cranbourne this afternoon, Ford scored with Pickle It, with the win doubling as her 150th.

Working overtime in the ‘death seat’, Pickle It accounted for Atomic Glory and Chasing The Wind in 1:58.6 for the mile.

“He led during his last two starts in Cranbourne and didn’t hit the line as well as he could,” Ford said. “This time I drove him tougher and it seemed to suit him.

“He ran the others off their feet…it was a good strong run.

“Getting to 150 is a nice bonus to the win as well.”
