A BRIEF freshen-up ahead of another feature race campaign.
That’s what is in store for rising star trotter Always Ready.
Speaking after Always Ready’s success in tonight’s Breeders’ Crown Championship at Tabcorp Park Melton, co-trainer Anton Golino stated next month’s Vicbred Super Series was the follow-up mission for the four-year-old.
Heats of the futurity are programmed for December 23, with the Final to be conducted in Melton on New Year’s Eve.
Golino co-trains his team with Jack MacKinnon.
“The Sires’ is the next main race for him,” Golino said. “He’ll have a few easy days before he gets set for that.
“He won the Vicbred as a two-year-old before missing his three-year-old season due to injury, so with a bit of luck he can pick it up again at four.”
As for his latest performance, Always Ready led throughout from the pole to score by three-and-a-half metres from Majestuoso
Brandlo Prince was five-and-a-half metres away third.
Rating 2:00.5 over 2240 metres, Always Ready provided driver Jason Lee with a clean sweep of the four-year-old features, having captured the mares’ category with Keayang Livana earlier in the night.
Showing plenty of gate speed to find the front from barrier four, Keayang Livana was never seriously challenged on her way to an eight-metre triumph from Peregrine Phoenix, with Emerald Stride two metres away third.
Prepared by Lee’s mother Margaret, Keayang Livana rated 2:00 to take her record to seven wins and four placings from 17 starts for earnings of $48,830.
