Sam drawn to prove he’s the man

IN-FORM pacer Westar Sam is expected to have little trouble extending his winning streak at Globe Derby tomorrow night.

Thriving since arriving in South Australia, the former Kiwi has won his last four starts at the troubled venue.

Overall Westar Sam has notched 10 wins and three placings from 18 starts since crossing the Tasman.

Thrilled with the seven-year-old’s progress, trainer Aaron Bain is positive Westar Sam can stretch his sequence after drawing to settle forward from barrier three.

“He is in top shape and will be very hard to beat again,” Bain said. “I scratched him a couple of weeks ago because he wasn’t quite right, but he’s spot on now.

“We haven’t really used his gate speed yet but we will from that draw to look for the front.”

Another to impress since joining Bain’s team is It Aint The Money, which has also drawn to continue his winning way.

Triumphant at his last two starts, the son of Lis Mara boasts five wins and two seconds from nine Australian outings.

To be driven by Wayne Hill, It Aint About The Money will also begin from barrier three.

“He is also in top shape and has come along nicely since getting here,” Bain said. “He found the front to win his last two starts from barrier three so hopefully he can complete the hat-trick.”

Hill will also take the reins behind Bottle Rock which finished second upon debut for Bain three weeks ago.

The son of Betterthancheddar has drawn gate four.

“I was happy with his first run and he will be better for the outing,” Bain said. “His work since has been pretty sharp and he will take a lot of beating from the draw.”
