Boom youngster’s return postponed
STAR filly Amazing Dream is set to be scratched from tomorrow night’s Albion Park meeting.
Poised to make her Australian debut, the boom youngster’s first start for trainer Darren Weeks has been postponed a week.
With the daughter of Bettors Delight unraced since March 6, Weeks has decided Amazing Dream is “too underdone” to return to the track.
Amazing Dream joined Weeks’ stable after being transferred from New Zealand’s power couple Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen.
The three-year-old’s last two starts before leaving the Shaky Isles netted a pair of Group Ones – for a total of five majors.
Owned by Victorian horsewoman Jean Feiss, Amazing Dream boasts 11 wins and seven placings from 18 starts for earnings of $625,085.
“There is nothing wrong with her,” Weeks said. “She is too underdone and I just don’t think she is ready to go this week.
“She got away on us a bit so I want to put a bit more work into her as I don’t want to knock her around.
“We were in a similar boat with Dina Bolt and raced him before he finished third on Tuesday, so I’m a bit gun shy now.
“With her being such a high profile filly, and the likelihood they will run a quick mile on Saturday night, I don’t want to give her a gut buster first-up when she’s not as fit as she can be.”
