Filly ready to live up to her name

SOUTH Aussie Star is expected to have no trouble living up to her name this weekend.

Prepared by SA’s premier horseman Ryan Hryhorec, South Aussie Star is engaged in tomorrow night’s Australian Pacing Gold Classic at Globe Derby, with the feature appearing to be at her mercy.

Impressing with a win in Port Pirie several starts ago, South Aussie Star is a raging $1.30 favourite from barrier two.

Pleased with South Aussie Star’s form heading into the Sales-based event, Hryhorec revealed he plans to be ‘aggressive’ with the daughter of former top speedster Ride High.

“This looks like a very suitable race for her,” Hryhorec said. “I’ll be aggressive with her at the start as I aim for the lead from that draw.

“This is her chance to pick up some good prizemoney, plus the club’s $5000 bonus for her first at the track, so I’ll be driving her accordingly.

“Nothing went her way at her last start a couple of weeks ago but she still did well to finish fourth.

“Her work since has been solid and I expect her to take a lot of running down.”

One of three debutantes in the field, Victorian raider Ideal Miki is rated as the main danger based on her recent trials.

Prepared by Trevor Patching, Ideal Miki has also drawn to make her presence felt from the pole.

The daughter of Always B Miki is on the second line of betting at $3.50.

Ideal Miki hails  from the same family as six-time Group One winner Beautide, which was retired with earnings of $2,183,132.

Beautide’s victories include two Inter Dominions and the Miracle Mile.

“It’s always difficult lining up first starters, but I’d have to say Ideal Miki is the main danger,” Hryhorec said.
