Undefeated filly one to beat despite draw

DESPITE her difficult draw, Ladies In Red is the one to beat among her stablemates in Saturday night’s Home Grown Classic at Tabcorp Park Melton.

Winner of her series heat in Ballarat last week, Ladies In Red is one of six runners premier horsewoman Emma Stewart has in the Group Two.

Overall 12 fillies will contest the $50,000 feature.

To be driven by Kate Gath, Ladies In Red has drawn barrier 10 over 1720 metres.

Unbeaten from two starts, the daughter of Mach Three is a sister to multiple Group One winner Our Little General, which was also prepared by Stewart.

“Ladies In Red was super impressive last week,” Stewart said. “Each of the fillies did well, but Ladies In Red was the standout.

“The draw hasn’t been too kind to her, but she’s good enough to overcome it.

“What she doesn’t need is bad luck in traffic during the run.”

Also the winner of her two starts, Rogue Wave has fared a little better in the draw.

The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere has drawn to follow her stablemate, Platinum Sparkle, through from the inside of the second row.

Platinum Sparkle was second behind Ladies In Red in their qualifier when first-up from a spell.

“Rogue Wave has come along very nicely and will be competitive again,” Stewart said. “Platinum Sparkle went well in her first run back from a let up and has improved during the week.”

Successful in her heat, which doubled as her debut, Beach Music will come from gate four.

Also by Somebeachsomewhere, the two-year-old is from 2012 Australian Pacing Gold winner Musical Delight.

“Beach Music is shaping up to be a very nice filly,” Stewart said. “Hopefully she can go on to bigger wins like her dam.”

Tough Tilly from barrier seven and No Motive in gate nine round out Stewart’s squad.
