“What a great cause to be a part of”
CHARITY was the big winner at Club Menangle yesterday.
As part of men’s health month, Club Menangle, TAB and Harness Racing New South Wales are conducting a special promotion to raise awareness and valuable funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
With the assistance of key sponsors DM Plumbing, Evekare, Hamish Sterling Graphic Design, Hyland Sportswear, McLaren Real Estate, Multiquip Aggregates, Pryde’s EasiFeed and The Strictly Limited Company, money will be donated each time ‘Number Four’ finishes among the placings at the world class venue throughout November.
While there was no joy last weekend – the first Club Menangle meeting of the month – competitors carrying the Number Four saddlecloth yesterday notched a win, second and third.
Handy pacer Vinny Chase was the star on the card after he scored with Robbie Morris in the cart.
Thanks to gelding’s success for trainer Rob Xerri, $800 was donated to the cause.
Xerri also prepared Kylies Life to finish second, earning the charity another $405.
The Darren Binskin-trained and driven Scenic Sky picked up $190 for the kitty thanks to his third in the trot.
“What a great cause to be a part of and I am rapt we can help chip in,” Xerri said. “With a bit of luck we can get another win or two while carrying the saddlecloth before the month is up.
“Ideally number four will start dominating the races and the tally can grow into a substantial amount for charity.”
