What a freakish mare she is!

STEPPING up to the Grand Circuit at her next outing hasn’t been ruled out for superstar Ladies In Red.

Speaking after the four-year-old trounced her rivals in The Rising Sun at Albion Park just moments ago, trainer Emma Stewart revealed Ladies In Red may compete against the highest level in a fortnight.

While no firm decision has been made, Stewart stated The Blacks A Fake, which is scheduled to be run at the same venue on July 23, is being considered.

Named after the industry’s only quadruple Inter Dominion winner, The Blacks A Fake is the fifth leg of the circuit.

“We haven’t made any set plans for her beyond tonight’s race,” Stewart said. “That said, she is up here and The Blacks A Fake being two weeks ago would fit in well for her.

“She was first-up for nine weeks tonight and will certainly benefit from that run.

“We’ll have to see how she comes through this run and weigh up the options before making a decision.”

Driven aggressively by Nathan Jack to find the front from barrier three, Ladies In Red was rated to perfection as several of her rivals were taken to the ‘death seat’.

Given full rein turning for home, the daughter of Mach Three sprinted to an 11-and-a-half metre win from Better Eclipse, with Leap To Fame a head away third.

“It was a brilliant drive by Nathan,” Stewart said. “Once he found the front he kept them running along at even tempo which was perfect for her while making it hard on anything to come from behind.

“The way she came away from them up the straight was amazing and just proves once again what a freakish mare she is.

“There’s no doubt she is up there with some of the best mares we have ever seen in this part of the world.”

Rating 1:54.3 over 2138 metres, Ladies In Red stretched her record to an impeccable 19 wins and four seconds from 23 starts for earnings of $789,420.
