All hail the short course King

IN-FORM pacer Adam Crocker is officially the Trot Rods King.

Successful in a heat of the short course series in Redcliffe last week, Adam Crocker had to wait until the remaining qualifiers were contested before claiming the title.

Racing Queensland conducted the series over several weeks, which saw fields of five compete over 947 metres around the ‘triangle track’.

With the last of the rounds finalised Adam Crocker has taken the title and the bonuses.

Driven by Pete McMullen, the son of Somebeachsomewhere covered the trip in 63.8 seconds.

As the fastest winner Adam Crocker snared a $10,000 bonus for owner Gary Crocker and a float valued at $21,000 for trainer Chantal Turpin.

That’s on top of the penalty-free $4250 stake earnings and $1000 for quickest time of the night!

“It’s been a terrific result for Chantal and I,” Crocker said. “He’s always had a bit of speed about him, but has just lacked that strength to go with it.

“A race like this is tailor-made for him.”

A revelation since arriving in Queensland, Adam Crocker is unbeaten from three starts, with his victories including the Group Two Australian Pacing Gold Four-Year-Old Consolation.

“He’s loving life in Queensland,” Crocker said. “The conditions suit him down to the ground.

“From three starts for Chantal he’s pocketed more than $30,000 in stakes and another $30,000 in bonuses.”
