Classy import Grand Circuit bound
LIFE is about to get a lot tougher for classy import Nurburgring.
Thriving since arriving from New Zealand, Nurburgring has won six of his 10 Queensland starts, including Albion Park last night.
Prepared by Steve Borg, the son of Bettors Delight has also run three seconds and a fourth.
Given Nurburgring’s smooth transition through the grades, Borg has set his sights on several majors, including The Blacks A Fake.
The final leg of the extended 2019/20 Grand Circuit, the Group One is scheduled to be conducted on December 12.
Borg’s plans also include the Be Good Johnny Sprint on November 28, followed by the Queensland Cup the following week.
“It’s a step up for him, but everything he has shown so far suggests he is worthy of having a go,” Borg said.
“I will look to give him one more start before the Be Good Johnny Sprint then hopefully on to the two main events.
“I’ve got no doubt he will prove himself more than competitive.”
With Lola Weidemann holding the reins during his latest win, Nurburgring worked hard to find the lead from barrier six as early pacemaker, Paravani, was eased to take a trail.
Proving too slick along the home straight, Nurburgring completed a metre-and-a-half win from Paravani, with Cautivar a metre-and-a-half third in 1:54.4 over 1660 metres.
“He hasn’t stepped a hoof wrong since he got here and that was another nice run from him,” Borg said.
“He’s won his last four starts now and seems to be getting better as he goes along.”
