Outstanding colt to continue perfect record
OUTSTANDING youngster One Change is expected to have no trouble maintaining his perfect Australian record during the weekend.
Unbeaten from three starts since arriving in Queensland, One Change is set to return to Albion Park on Saturday night.
The colt is a recent addition to the Vicki Rasmussen stable, having been prepared by Rasmussen’s sister Natalie and her partner Mark Purdon in New Zealand.
One Change crossed the Tasman with eight wins and six placings from 14 starts, with his victories including five Group Ones.
“He’s been a great addition…we are lucky to get him,” Rasmussen said. “He is a nice little fella which seems to step up and does what he has to each time he goes around.”
With Shane Graham set to take the reins, One Change will begin from barrier five over 1660 metres.
The son of Bettors Delight heads betting at a $1.45, with Will The Wizard considered the main danger at $3.60 from the pole.
“He has a bit of an awkward draw but should go well,” Rasmussen said. “Based on what he has done so far I expect him to be too good.
“That said, Will The Wizard has drawn to run along and will give plenty to chase.”
One Change is one of numerous pacers the Allstars Stable has sent to Australia in recent weeks with the view of tackling some of the nation’s majors towards the end of the season and into the New Year.
“There are a couple of three-year-old races coming up here he will go in,” Rasmussen said. “After that he has the Breeders’ Crown in Victoria.”
